Addictions Studies Counseling Training Program
Mental Health 223, Intro to Addictions Studies. (3 credit hours) Treatment strategies, understanding the addiction process, its effects upon the individual, family and society.
(Saturdays 9:00am-12:30pm)
Mental Health 230, Substance Abuse in the Family/Addictions and the Family Treatment. (3 credit hours, two sections offered) Effects of alcohol and substance abuse on the family. Examination of treatment alternatives and self-help groups. (Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00-7:20pm) or (Saturdays 9:00am-12:30pm)
Mental Health 231, Addictions Treatment of Special Populations. (3 credit hours) Diagnosis and treatment of adolescents, women, elderly, individuals with disabilities and diverse ethnic backgrounds. Patient Education and relapse prevention. (Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30-8:50pm)
Gerontology
Social Services 102, Intro to Gerontology. (3 credit hours) An overview of elder issues including the social, psychological and physical aspects of the aging process. This course will examine the economic and social impact of the growing elderly population on U.S. society and global community and also explore career opportunities in this expanding field. (Saturdays 9:00am-12:30pm)
