The Chicago Field Site has 16 recruiters, who are actively recruiting door-to-door, seven days a week. Two field coordinators oversee the recruiters while they are out in the community. Recruiter Manager/Director, Dr. Catalina Ramos ensures that all recruiters are trained, certified, up to date on study procedures, and understand how important participants are to the study’s success. Each one of our recruiters participates in a series of trainings. These trainings certify recruiters in conducting home interviews, research, recruitment, and cultural competency. The recruiters also become familiarized with the study’s clinical exams so they can explain clearly to participants what they should expect the day of a clinic appointment.
Before recruitment begins in a given area, they mail out invitations to potential households.
They also make phone calls to homes!
and finally they make house visits!
